Chintamani Investment | 117094 | www.chintamaniinvest.in | Last Updated: July 2026
Why Should You Read These Documents?
SEBI regulations mandate that every Mutual Fund scheme must have three offer documents — SID, SAI, and KIM. These documents contain everything you need to know before investing — risks, costs, objectives, and terms. Chintamani Investment strongly encourages every investor to read these documents before investing in any Mutual Fund scheme. We will provide any of these documents on request within Within 24 hours — free of charge.
The Three Mandatory Mutual Fund Documents

Quick Reference
1. Scheme Information Document (SID) — In Detail
The SID is the primary legal document for a Mutual Fund scheme. It is filed with SEBI before the scheme is launched and updated periodically. Every SID contains:
Investment Objective: What the scheme aims to achieve — capital growth, income, capital preservation, or a combination
Asset Allocation Pattern: How the fund's money will be invested — percentage split between equity, debt, derivatives, REITs, etc.
Risk Factors & SEBI Riskometer: All specific risks of the scheme — market risk, credit risk, interest rate risk, liquidity risk — and the official 6-level SEBI Riskometer
Total Expense Ratio (TER): Annual expense ratio for both Direct Plan and Regular Plan — what you pay as a cost of investing
Exit Load Structure: Charges payable if you redeem before a specified period — e.g. 1% if redeemed within 1 year
Benchmark Index: The index against which the scheme's performance is measured — e.g. Nifty 50, BSE Sensex, Nifty 500
Fund Manager Details: Name, qualifications, experience, and other schemes managed by the fund manager
Historical NAV Performance: Past 1-year, 3-year, 5-year, and since-inception returns vs benchmark
Dividend History: Record of dividends declared by the scheme (now called IDCW — Income Distribution cum Capital Withdrawal)
Redemption & Settlement: T+1 or T+2 settlement timelines, cut-off times for same-day NAV
Fundamental Attributes: Core characteristics that cannot be changed without investor consent — investment objective, asset allocation, etc.
2. Statement of Additional Information (SAI) — In Detail
The SAI contains general information about the AMC and all its schemes. It is common to all schemes of a Mutual Fund. Key contents:
AMC & Trustee Company Details: Name, CIN, registered address, board of directors, key personnel of the AMC and Trustee
Sponsor Information: Details of the sponsoring company behind the Mutual Fund — e.g. HDFC Ltd. for HDFC AMC
Rights of Unit Holders: Legal rights of investors as unit holders — voting rights, right to winding up proceeds, right to information
Tax Treatment of MF Investments: Capital gains tax — STCG and LTCG — for different fund categories and holding periods
KYC Requirements: What documents are required for KYC, FATCA/CRS declarations, and NRI investment norms
Penalties & Pending Litigation: Any SEBI actions, penalties, or pending legal proceedings against the AMC
Investor Grievance Mechanism: How to lodge complaints, escalation matrix, and SEBI SCORES details
AML / KYC Policy: The AMC's Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer policy
Associate Transactions: Transactions with related parties of the AMC — disclosed for transparency
3. Key Information Memorandum (KIM) — In Detail
The KIM is a summarised, easy-to-read document attached to every Mutual Fund application form. It is mandatory to give this to every investor. Key contents:
Investment Objective (Summary): One-paragraph summary of what the scheme aims to achieve
Asset Allocation Table: Clear table showing minimum and maximum allocation to each asset class
SEBI Riskometer: The official 6-level risk label — Low, Low to Moderate, Moderate, Moderately High, High, Very High
Current NAV: Latest Net Asset Value for both Direct and Regular Plans
Benchmark Index: The index used to measure scheme performance
Fund Manager Name: Current fund manager(s) managing the scheme
Exit Load: Clearly stated exit load — e.g. Nil / 1% if redeemed within 365 days
Minimum Investment Amounts: Minimum purchase, SIP, and additional purchase amounts
Plans Available: Direct Plan and Regular Plan — both clearly mentioned
Dividend Option (IDCW): Frequency and history of income distributions
Standard MF Disclaimer: "Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risks..."

🟡
Low to Moderate
Ultra Short Duration, Money Market, Short Duration funds — low interest rate risk
🟠
Moderate
Balanced Hybrid, Conservative Hybrid, Medium Duration funds — balanced risk
🟠
Moderately High
Large Cap, Flexi Cap, Aggressive Hybrid funds — equity with moderate-high risk
Small Cap, Sector/Thematic funds, International funds — highest market risk

Note: This is a sample illustration. The actual Riskometer of each scheme is available in the scheme's KIM and SID. Needle position varies by scheme.
The Riskometer is updated monthly by AMCs based on actual portfolio composition. Always check the current Riskometer before investing — it may have changed since you last reviewed.

Why Reading These Documents Matters
⚖️
Know Your Risks
The Riskometer and risk factors section tell you exactly what risks you are taking. Never invest without understanding them.
💰
Know Your Costs
TER, exit load, and transaction charges are clearly disclosed. Higher costs reduce your net returns significantly over time.
🎯
Check Suitability
The investment objective tells you if the scheme matches your financial goal — wealth creation, income, or capital preservation.
🔒
Understand Lock-in
ELSS has 3-year lock-in. Close-ended funds have fixed maturity. Know before you invest — liquidity matters.
👁️
Verify Fund Manager
Fund manager changes significantly impact performance. Check who manages the fund and their track record in the SID.
📊
Compare Options
Reading KIMs of similar schemes helps you compare TER, exit load, and performance across options before deciding.
Chintamani Investment's Commitment
Chintamani Investment (117094) will always share the relevant SID, SAI, or KIM for any scheme we recommend — before you invest, not after. If you have not received these documents and have already invested, please contact us at info@chintamaniinvest.in or 9898010887 and we will provide them within Within 24 hours.
